Cherokee was formed
in June 2001 by Rio Moreno Rusadi consisting of young
talented players who are mostly interested in Jazz.
The name Cherokee was taken from a Jazz song written
in 1938 by Ray Noble.
Members of the band are well experienced young musicians
who have played with various distinguished musicians
such as Indra Lesmana, Erwin Gutawa, Elfa Secioria,
Idang Rasyidi, Ireng Maulana, Karim Suweilleh and
the
legendary drummer Benny Mustapha.
The different influences on each member of Cherokee
have given the album's sound added touch, diversity,
and richness.

Rio Moreno Rusadi
Piano, Band Leader, Composer & Arranger
Rio has played solo
piano gigs at various hotels and restaurants in Jakarta.
In addition, he has performed with a wide array of
bands, including Daya Big Band with Tjut Nyak Deviana
Daudsjah as conductor, at such places as Salsa, Tavern,

presence of montuno and latin influence, in the context
of both the upbeat and ballad music, to the nuance
of Cherokee. |

Harry Toledo
Bass, Composer & Arranger
A
virtuous bass player, Harry has performed
with many of the Indonesian prominent musicians
and bands, including Idang Rasyidi Quartet,
Ireng Maulana Combo, Hentriessa Band, and
the Groove. Rich in funk and swing, Harry
has helped accentuate Bali Lounge's beat.
His other project involvements including
Bali Lounge and "OPP and Friends"
have reflected not only his virtuousity
but also his added diversity as to dwell
into other genres of music. |

Tri Agus Mantoro
Drums
His
background in pop, rock, and jazz has added
a new dimension to the band's color. Agus
has been able to blend all these into the
various compositions of the remaining band
members. He has performed with various players
and bands including David Addes Band, David
Lee Band in Bali, and Victor Rompas Band. |

Iwan wiradz
Percussions, Composer & Arranger
Invariably one of
the most talented and gifted percussionists in Indonesia,
Iwan is deeply passionate about creating a rich latin
influence to the music of Cherokee. Not only does
he carry the band's beat but he also has helped create
a new dimension of the band's soul. Iwan has performed
with EKMS Band, Elfa Scioria Big Band, Indonesia
6, and Twilite Orchestra. |

Kadek Rihardika
Guitar, Composer & Arranger
Influences
of many prominent guitar players can be
seen in Kadek's wide ranging guitar abilities
in both electric and acoustic. At the same
time, his unique ability in the composition
of ballads in the album serves as a new
nuance that is characteristic of him. Kadek
has performed with various players and bands
including Indra Lesmana, ADA Band, Emerald
Band, Elfa Secioria, and teaches at the
Farabi School of Music in Jakarta. |

Uci Nurul
Being a member
of the Elfas Singers has brought a wealth of soul
and experience into
Cherokee's album as has clearly been sensed in
the very ballad performed by her. Uci was kind
enough
as to help feature in "Yang Pernah Ada",
a ballad written by one of the band's members and
has helped bring a new interesting dimension to
the album. |

Gita Wirjawan
Influences
from Dave Grusin, David Benoit, Bob James
and a number of other GRP artists almost
cannot be hidden from his color and touch.
Notwithstanding the producer role, Gita
could not help but contribute a couple of
songs that helped enrich the album's dimension. |
